Cross – it expresses a cosmic reality

“Christians think of the cross as a symbol reminding them of the death of Jesus, but it has a far greater significance. It is true that it recalls the death of Jesus, but this is only one aspect. The crucifixion was an historical event, but the cross itself is a much vaster symbol – it is a cosmic reality – and we must understand it more broadly.
The most profound and complete meaning of the cross is the union of the two principles, masculine and feminine, and the work they carry out together throughout the universe. From the cross is derived another symbol: the hexagram, or Solomon’s seal, made of two intertwined triangles. Here, triangles have taken the place of the straight lines of the cross, adding fresh meaning to its significance, but the idea is the same, and the same law applies – it is always about the work of the two principles.”*
